It was a successful day as John Mathenge the incoming Tetu mp 2022 held a voter sensitisation drive to the Residents of Gachatha and Wamagana in Tetu constituency. The people had a chance to share thechallenges they are encountering in various sectors and what they anticipate to attain under his leadership.

1. Lack of a clear mt Kenya supremo and a strong presidential candidate in the region.

Mt Kenya region block has always been the force to reckon with in any presidential election owing to the region’s immense wealth n networks n their strength in votes. Lack of a clear supremo favours the DP who is seen as the only clear alternative n a close ‘friend’ in a region that has always been an anti Raila in political scene.

2. Loyalty to the president.

Viewed by many as a loyal humble deputy to his principal for sustaining calm and sobriety even after numerous attacks by the so called deep state and powerful figures in the Kenyatta adminstration . Seen as being masterminded by his boss,the DP has therefore been able to turn around the situation to appear the victim therefore gaining sympathy from many voters who feel he is been treated unfairly by power makers.

3.His association with the common mwananchi(hustler nation).

The hustler narrative thou branded by opponents of potentially being capable of striking class war between the haves n have not has gained ground n there giving momentum to the DP’s Statehouse race by branding him as chief defender of the common man. The many projects themed as empowerment projects to the youth n women has earned him a star in the eyes of ordinary citizens who make up the majority of the key voting population.

4. The spirit of Philanthropy

The multiple youth n women empowerment programmes has been seen as a new way to woe voters far away from the earlier tradition of handouts therefore branding the second in command as the ultimate king of shaping dreams.

5.The Bottom up economic model

For decades Kenyans believe the trickle down economic strategy hasnt been felt by common man and has been viewed to benefit the political elite and business tycoons. His empowerment programmes benefiting the jobless youths seen as having cemented the ideology of the bottom up giving hopes to millions of kenyans who feel left out in the previous approaches by the government.

6. Age advantage.

With no doubt the Dp is the only current aspirant who can manoeuvre around several counties in a single day n still hold his energy intact. Raila being seen as his closest rival is being seen as having exhausted his political muscles and ideologies in previous elections making the DP stand out as a youthful candidate gaining massive support from the youthful block.

7.Introduction of Raila Odinga and allies through handshake to the government and Jubilee failures .

A move that was meant to cut the DP’s wings thro the BBI but managed to turn around the tables and used it to his advantage. The nullification of the process therefore validating the idea Dp Ruto had about the initiative and therefore making him the right mind in the whole process as compared to other presidential aspirants. The introduction of Raila and allies in to the govt and house committees has created an avenue for the DP to link jubilee adminstration final term failures to the new Kenyatta allies. This move has faded away Raila’s earlier tactic of criticism to the administration which used to play to his advantage. Today majority of Kenyans thinks the former Prime minister is part of failures in the government.

8. Darliance with the Clergy

Although politics and religion seems not to be connected ,we cannot disregard that both are run almost the same way thro controlling massive following to a certain ideology, or certain figure.The DP deep roots in the church and huge donations made across different congregations has branded him as a great supporter of God’s work earning him a support base from the religious following.

9. Immense wealth.

Presidential campaigns are costly. Due to His deep pockets and massive networks of investment outsmart all other presidential aspirants. He is also the master of strategy in the politics of influence n ‘purchase’ a move that the late former president Moi used to navigate through his opponents.

10. Protest votes

Many kenyans thinks that the current Kenyatta adminstration has underperformed and his association with Raila Odinga has created a rebellion from H.E Kenyatta voting block who felt betrayed. His attacks by the deep state also gaining sympathy from people who think that the President short-changed his deputy after re-election. Another set of rebellion from the Odinga support base view him as a project n are of the opinion that Raila abandoned his role of oversight and is enjoying the instruments of power for his own personal gain.

One year in politics is a long journey but truth be said the DP is the frontrunner and in elections were to be held today,with no doubt William Samoei Arap Ruto will be the 5th president of thus great republic
